Fashion Has No Borders (TM) Fashion Expose in Calgary

Fashion Has no Borders ™ FHNB Fashion & Accessory Exposé ™:  November 18th and 19th

A multifaceted fashion exhibition will take over the Roundup Centre in Calgary this November, bringing together students, and fashion industry experts as well as both high-profile and Canadian retailers.

Fashion Has No Borders ™ President Sharon Cornwall is excited to bring the Fashion & Accessory Exposé ™ to Calgary after a successful run in Toronto. This new and innovative show will provide retailers with the chance to further develop their reputation as respected members of the industry, as well as present entertainment and promote fashion industry education by connecting business leaders with emerging talent.

“The show will launch and link Canada’s up-and-coming designer superstars with many of our Nation’s quality local source manufacturers, all in support of an industry that is a crucial mainstay of our diversified economy,” said City of Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier, “Thousands right here in Calgary are employed in fashion design, manufacturing and retailing. The Fashion Has No Borders™: Fashion & Accessory Exposé™ is their showcase, a chance to prove how very, very good they are.”

Fashion students will have the chance to come and showcase their designs and creations on the runway, and future beauty school students will be able to gain more insight into the colourful world of fashion by talking to industry experts about their experience. Young Calgarians will also have a chance to perform during the ‘Fashion Theatre’ portion of the runway show. Prizes and educational bursaries will be awarded during the exposé, including ‘Designer of the year’ and ‘fashion photographer of the year’.

“Fashion Has No Borders™: Fashion & Accessory Exposé™ is a great opportunity for the Olds College fashion students to get exposure to the industry they are studying,” said Terry Males, Chair of the School of Business at Olds College. “In Western Canada the networking at ground level of the fashion industry is difficult to find.  There is no real resource that is easily accessible to young minds to discover the extent of how rewarding our industry can be.”

The wide array of retailers at the exposé will be split into a handful of differing categories. Kiosks featuring vintages pieces, accessories, and sport and street-inspired fashion will each have their own “zones.” Additionally, there will be zones for higher profile designers, menswear, beauty products and personal wellness.

So, for all the fashion lovers and future fashion entrepreneurs out there, get ready for the Fashion Has No Borders™ Fashion & Accessory Exposé™ happening on November 18th and 19th from 12 P.M. until 9 P.M. both days. Cost for entry is $9, or $5 for high school and beauty school students with ID. For more information visit http://www.fashionhasnoborders.com.

Help answer the question about fashion

What are some careers in the fashion industry that do not require you to be an artist/designer type?
I know that sounds confusing and stupid but…

I love clothes and fashion, even though I'm not artistic or the designer type. I just wanna be around the fashion industry. I'm planning on majoring in business, or marketing in college, so what jobs in fashion could I get with either of those? I love fashion more than anything and I want to be around it

You take a "model", and get to choose a collection from various deisgners such as Christian Dior, Zac Posen, Ralph Lauren, John Galliano, Versace, Fendi, and even some couture collections, such as John Galliano/Dior, and Karl Lagerfeld/Chanel. Read TeenVogue, it's the best way to follow the fashion trends. People and Instyle have fashion updates for people your age sometimes. Keep your make-up safe, and clean with a glow that makes you the way you are. Don't make it too dramatic. Even out your make up; maybe a little bit of mascara, eyeliner, a touch of eyeshadow, a little bit of blush, and some gloss will do. Guys don't like it when girls have too much make up. I personally don't like Forever21 because their clothes are cheap material so I recommend that you shop at Nordstroms, Urban Outfitters, and H&M. Always dress according to the ocasio and weather, keep your accessories cute, never mix&match, but don't over accessorize. These days, the bigger the better. Don't carry around a dinky little purse, get your oufit to look more fabulous by carrying a purse that has a lot of room and style to it. Jeans are very important. I love Citizens of Humanity, True Religions, and William Rast jeans. Do not get jeans that are too tight. You'll get a muffin top which means that your fats goes over your jeans beacause your jeans are too tight. It was stated on E!'s 50 fashion do and don't. Make sure to keep the length right, and the butt area looking fit. I use Nu Skin, which is not a very well known brand, but it is the best. I was breaking out one time, I applyed some facial acne creame, the next day it was gone. And for your make up, go to Sephora, not MAC. MAC makes you look like a cake face. GOOD LUCK!

they are the ones who create the fashion, they design the trends. it's high street brands and people in advertising who do the forecasting, based on what the lovely designers give them.

they normally design a two seasons ahead. but they only come out on the catwalks one season before.

so the spring/summer collection will come out in winter. but the designers will be on the next autumn/winter collection.

  13. Cooper Says:

you can become a buyer for stores or work as a sales rep. as a buyer you get to choose clothing for stores- which can be a lot if hard but brings a lot of pressure. sales is just as pressured, and buyers get paid more.

It's relatively unimportant to history. However, since you have to pretend that it is, just discuss the differences between classes' clothing, the difference of religious leaders clothing, and the changes seen in mens clothing versus women's clothing. Research various cultures, and maybe you point out unique clothing like in Korea they have the traditional han bok for various customs.

  18. oosweetdreamoo15 Says:

it doesnt really matter they both are the samething if you search for more information on the two you can be a fashion buyer for both of them and also make sure you go to a good school not one that advertise itself on tv late at night those always seem a little sketchy go to top cities like miami, los angelos, new york, chicago and parts of europe..its a risk but its a great career
