Jakarta Fashion Week Takes Fashion Tradeshow Indonesia to the World

Fashion shows are often considered only as a prestige contest arena, keep image or social function. According to the Chairman of Employers Association of Indonesian Fashion Designers (APPMI) Taruna K. Kusmayadi, the assumption is not completely true.
“Fashion is a fashion show of trade, not just the event to show off. Currently, fashion shows in Indonesia have started to build the infrastructure phase of the industry. Where can I buy this product? How much?” clear Midshipman, or familiarly called Nuna during a press conference Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW), recently at the Plaza FX, Jakarta.
To further advance the Indonesian fashion industry, Nuna appealed to all elements involved in the field of fashion, ranging from textiles, government, garment and fashion designers come together to make a trade show event.

“Fashion event should be made only twice a year, but in a large scale that could be a trade show, than is often a small event, but the echo is less,” said Nuna.
Hence, Jakarta Fashion Week event to be held, judged as a prestigious event that could bring fashion in Indonesia is better known internationally eyes.
Svida Alisjahbana, as chairman also hoped JFW, later an event for the second time could make Jakarta as a fashion capital in Indonesia, regional (Southeast Asia), and even internationally.
“It is time for Indonesian designers have a strong position in Indonesia and regionally. JFW designers aim to bring Indonesia into an important player, at least on its own,” explained Svida.
JFW will include approximately 60 Indonesian designer fashion from two organizations (APPMI and IPMI) and independent designers. JFW also invited two renowned Indian designer, who will collaborate with two Indonesian designer Sebastian Gunawan and Priyo Oktaviano.
In addition, there will be a series of events such as the Indonesian Fashion Designer Contest and Fashion Goddess Knights. The event which lasted for seven days will be re-held at Pacific Place Mall, a shopping center in the central business area SCBD, Sudirman, Central Jakarta.
